Be A Substitute Teacher

• Satisfactory Employment Background Check that includes Criminal History and Indiana Department of Child Services.
• 30 US college credits OR International Higher Education Equivalent OR Passing ParaPro Score of 460+.
• Once hired, you will need to apply for an Indiana Sub Permit or provide proof of a valid Indiana Teacher’s License.

Regular Part-Time Substitute

(works a maximum of 120 hours per month)

• Substitute for a Teacher: $95/Full Day   $47.50/Half Day.
• Substitute for an Instructional Assistant: $80/Full Day   $40/Half Day.

**Substitutes who are Former Teachers with 10 years or more of certified experience:

• Substitute for a teacher: $115/Full Day   $57.50/Half Day.
• Substitute for Instructional Assistant: $80/Day   $40/Half Day.
   

Full-Time Substitute 

HSE District Employee (not contracted)

• Works each day students are in the classroom.
• Same compensation for covering Teacher or Instructional Assistant:
• $105/Full Day   $52.50/Half Day.
• Works in assigned school(s), grade(s) or can float between schools.
• Paid sick and personal day(s) prorated to date of hire.
• Year-round insurance benefits are available.
• HSE contributes to Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) in addition to your personal contribution.
