Welcome Riverside Intermediate Families

May 13, 2020

Dear Future RSI Golden Hawks,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that on behalf of the RSI staff I welcome you to RSI. Although you will keep working hard to finish your e-Learning year as a fourth grade student, soon enough we will begin the transition process to RSI where you will thrive as a fifth grade student.

Please take a look at the welcome video from myself and Mr. Farrell and don't hesitate to send any questions you may have. Right now we have more questions than answers, but believe me, we are ready to take action on our transition plans when our directives from the Department of Education and State of Indiana come in.

Take a look at the basic RSI information below and remember we will be communicating with you frequently with any new meeting dates or information to assist with your transition.

Academic Mission at RSI

The Riverside Intermediate staff is dedicated to providing a learning environment that is highly collaborative, student-driven, service oriented, and inquiry/project-based. Riverside Intermediate maintains strong beliefs in our school community.

We believe in:

  • Building Relationships
  • Engagement and Collaboration
  • Learning and Applying
  • Inquiry
  • Establishing Goals
  • Feedback that is Meaningful

We at RSI are proud of our past accomplishments in high achievement, our commitment to integrating exceptional learners in all facets of the school day, and our promise to engage students in an innovative school experience.

Teacher Teams at RSI

At the intermediate level students will have one Humanities (reading, writing and social studies) teacher and one STEM (science and math ) teacher during their learning day. Each student will also have a starting homeroom class where they will experience daily Social Emotional Learning (SEL) concepts. All students will experience a related arts rotation where Physical Education, Art, and Music will be experiences. Remember band and orchestra start in 6th grade.

Student Involvement

Being involved means making new friends and building a collaborative work set. At RSI your student has many school activity options. During the day your child will experience "choice" learning clubs, optional after school sports, arts, and outdoor learning activities, and a vast sports option through a variety of clubs. Academic and athletic teams are also part of the RSI experience. Students have access to science/spell/math Bowl, Robotics Club, and much much more. Our activities are also driven by our student interest. Students are surveyed each year to ensure we know what they need and desire in activities.

Meet Your RSI Counselors

The counselors loop with the students at RSI. Your student will have the same counselor for 5th and 6th grade. Individual and group counseling, classroom guidance, and character education are all services provided by the counselors at RSI. Head to the RSI Counselor Page to learn more!
